“If you know my mom, you know that she is a force to be reckoned with. She is someone that always knows what she wants, and can somehow always make it happen. Whether that’s the most extravagant ward party you’ve ever been to, or her next travel plans, she can make any occasion feel so special. She is someone that is smart, confident, and will never take no for an answer. I grew up kind of being shy, but having a mom that is so confident, and can make things happen, has been such an example to me of the type of mom that I want to be.”

Brother Morgan Harris is one of our wonderful seminary teachers! He shares what his class of seniors has been learning in seminary as of late. We are so grateful for all of our amazing seminary teachers, for their sacrifice and love, and for the youth who inspire us daily by their love of learning and commitment to the gospel teachings.

A few weeks ago, Bishop Putnam and his counselors, Brother Ingersoll and Brother Maziarz were released after years of loving and faithful service in the Shorecliffs ward! We are so grateful to these good brethren and their amazing wives and families for their dedicated service and the love that they shared. They truly blessed so many!!

We are excited to support and sustain Bishop Prolo, Brother Galbasini and Brother Egan, who were called to the new bishopric in the Shorecliffs ward! We are grateful for their willingness to serve and extend our heartfelt love and appreciation to them, their amazing wives and their families!

I don’t know Spanish, I don’t know how I’m supposed to do this stuff.’ But a miracle happened, and when I showed up here, I kind of just put my trust in the Lord. I just knew that He was going to help me out and do the things that I couldn’t do, and I’ve found that I can connect with these people, I can talk to these people, I can be friends with these people. I’ve been able to show my love for these people. I’ve found that really I couldn’t have done any of these things on my own. My own skill, my own Spanish, my own knowledge is just not good enough. Our incredible YSA ward set a goal for 2025 of completing 10,000 temple ordinances! They have completed 2,372 temple ordinances thus far this year. We are inspired by their drive and dedication to get to the temple to worship and serve there.
“Our need to be in the temple on a regular basis has never been greater. I plead with you to take a prayerful look at how you spend your time. Invest time in your future and in that of your family. If you have reasonable access to a temple, I urge you to find a way to make an appointment regularly with the Lord—to be in His holy house—then keep that appointment with exactness and joy. I promise you that the Lord will bring the miracles He knows you need as you make sacrifices to serve and worship in His temples.” President Russell M. Nelson

Sammie Edgren has been set apart as a missionary! She will be heading to the Chile Concepcion South mission! We’re so excited for you!

Sammie Edgren has been set apart as a missionary! She will be heading to the Chile Concepcion South mission! We’re so excited for you!

Our seminary youth were very blessed to have Hank Smith as the guest speaker for their recent seminary morningside. He shared three main messages:

First, he taught three steps to making friends and making a difference. 1 - smile at people and they can’t help but smile back. 2 - learn and remember a person’s name. It makes them feel important. 3 - give a person a genuine compliment. This always makes a person feel good.

Second message he told the story about how his mother was invited to seminary by a friend and that one invitation eventually led to her conversion and baptism. He challenged each of the youth to think about one person that they might consider inviting to seminary. You never know the eternal impact this invitation may have.

Third message was about how we each will go through difficult trials and challenges in our lives. It can feel like the lord has forgotten us or that we’re being punished. In the moment it may feel this way but in time we will look back and see the Lord was there and that he was blessing us and shaping us. He referenced a quote from Elder Utchdorf that Hank calls the “three oftens” (pictured in one of the powerpoint slides above).

With Christ as the guide, there is no need to doubt or to fear as they crossover the threshold of the chapel, temple and discipleship. “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.” Doctrine & Covenants 6:36
